clinical counselling

Maybe you’re an expecting parent and you’re experiencing intrusive thoughts about the many unknowns and potential dangers that lie ahead. Perhaps your birth was not at all how you imagined it would be, and you’re struggling to make sense of what you’ve been through. Possibly, you’re a few months into this new and challenging parenting gig and you don’t feel like yourself. You may be feeling overwhelmed, lonely, and guilty that you don’t love it as much as you’re “supposed” to. Or maybe you and your partner are struggling to conceive, are grieving the loss of a pregnancy, and feeling like no one around you relates or understands.

Whatever your reason for reaching out, clinical counselling can help you cope, process your feelings, and gain the self-insight and skills you need to better navigate through all of the big changes life throws our way (including the momentous transition into parenthood). Using a collaborative, solution-focused, person-centered, and strength-based approach, client and counsellor join forces to explore the reasons behind difficult feelings or experiences. At Aspire Therapeutics, located in beautiful Langford, B.C., we know that everyone’s journey is unique so together, we will develop customized, practical tools and strategies that help clients feel supported and re-connected with their inner resilience and innate capacity to create meaningful change and overcome life’s challenges.

Starting therapy doesn’t have to feel overwhelming. Here is a step by step outline of how it works:

Step 1
Book a free 20 minute phone or virtual consultation online (or you can call to book, that’s okay too!)

Here, we will talk about what is going on in your life that’s motivating you to seek out therapy, answer any questions you might have, and see if we are a good fit

Step 2
Schedule and attend your first full length session

There’s no pressure to tell your entire life story. We’ll move at a pace that feels comfortable while beginning to understand what you’re experiencing and what you’d like to see change. We set some goals and make a plan together of how we can achieve them.

Step 3
Work towards meaningful change

Together, we’ll build insight, develop practical coping strategies, help you strengthen relationships, set stronger boundaries, and feel more confident and hopeful abou t navigating life’s challenges
