clinical counselling

Maybe you’re an expecting parent and you’re experiencing intrusive thoughts about the many unknowns and potential dangers that lie ahead. Perhaps your birth was not at all how you imagined it would be, and you’re struggling to make sense of what you’ve been through. Possibly, you’re a few months into this new and challenging parenting gig and you don’t feel like yourself. You may be feeling overwhelmed, lonely, and guilty that you don’t love it as much as you’re “supposed” to. Or maybe you and your partner are struggling to conceive, are grieving the loss of a pregnancy, and feeling like no one around you relates or understands.

Whatever your reason for reaching out, clinical counselling can help you cope, process your feelings, and gain the self-insight and skills you need to better navigate through all of the big changes life throws our way (including the momentous transiting into parenthood). Using a collaborative, solution-focused, person-centered, and strength-based approach, client and counsellor join forces to explore the reasons behind difficult feelings or experiences. At Aspire Therapeutics, located in beautiful Langford, B.C. we know that everyone’s journey is unique so together, we will develop customized, practical tools and strategies that help clients feel supported and re-connected with their inner resilience and innate capacity to create meaningful change and overcome life’s challenges.

Reaching out is hard, especially if you’re feeling scared and isolated, but we want you to know you are not alone, perinatal mood troubles are not your fault, and you will get better with help and support. Aspire Therapeutics counsellors offer a free, 20-minute phone consultation so you can see if they are the right fit for you. Our practice is culturally aware, social-justice oriented, LGBTQ2S+ friendly, receptive to feedback, and happy to go at your pace as feelings of safety and trust are foundational for effective therapy. Don’t wait, contact us to book a consultation or first appointment today so you can start feeling better.

Counselling sessions are available for adult individuals, and are offered in-person at our beautiful Goldstream Avenue office suite, or virtually through Jane; a secure, encrypted tele-health platform. Clinical Counsellors at Aspire have obtained at least a Master of Counselling, have been trained by Postpartum Support International (PSI) for advanced treatment of perinatal mood disorders, are trained in basic EMDR, and are registered with the British Columbia Association of Clinical Counsellors (BCACC).
